Port wants exemption from city’s land development code

Jan. 07 — The N.C. State Ports Authority is asking that Wilmington exempt new ports buildings from parts of the city’s land development code. The Planning Commission will take up the request Wednesday night.

Interim Chief named for Morehead City Police

Morris, who has been with the department for 20 years, starts in her new role Thursday. Current Police Chief Wrenn Johnson is retiring on February 1, after 31 years, but she is taking some vacation until then.

Morehead City offers ice skating through New Years Eve

We aren’t experiencing freezing temperatures in Eastern Carolina, but one city did manage to offer ice skating in their downtown area. For a second year, the Parks and Recreation Department in Morehead City put up a synthetic ice skating rink.
